Residents at Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center particularly benefit from our distinctive educational program, including individual consultation with pastoral theologians who supplement the CPE center faculty.

Summer CPE Internship
Intensive, 10-week CPE program designed primarily for seminarians or qualified laypeople seeking their first unit of CPE.

Extended CPE Internship

Part-time, 18-week CPE program designed primarily for ministers and laypersons who want to improve their pastoral skills and/or explore the possibility of chaplaincy as a vocation.

CPE Residency I
Full-time, one-year CPE program designed primarily for ministers who are seeking to re-tool their ministries; working towards becoming board-certified chaplaincy. A previous unit of CPE is strongly recommended.

CPE Residency II
Full-time, one-year CPE program designed specifically for individuals, who are committed to becoming board-certified chaplains with a previous residency-year; have met a consultation committee for Level II; have chosen to specialize in a particular medical service or discipline and/or  are engaged in research relevant to the field of pastoral care.

Supervisory Education & Training
Full-time, three-year commitment to mastering the educational skills, theories and practice necessary to effectively train individuals from diverse cultures, religions, developmental stages and styles of being and doing. This program requires a minimum of five previous units of CPE and completion of Level II Outcomes.
