Pelvic floor rehabilitation is non-surgical therapy that goes beyond traditional Kegel exercises to teach patients proper exercises of the pelvic floor muscles to improve bladder control. A computer is used to monitor the progress and strength of the pelvic muscles.

St. Luke’s Urology Center offers one-on-one instruction in pelvic floor rehabilitation. The center’s staff is trained by a national leader in the technique.

The exercises are easy to learn and less difficult than Kegel exercises, and both men and women can benefit. With proper muscle control, patients are able to hold urine and not leak.  The exercises also benefit patients with urgency, retention and bowel problems.

The Center must receive a physician’s order to provide these sessions.  A physician can order up to six sessions, with the first visit being an evaluation.
